Yearning is an exploration of longing, vulnerability, and quiet introspection. A solitary female figure emerges through luminous layers of encaustic wax, her form softened until it hovers between presence and memory. Rather than revealing every detail, the image invites the viewer to slow down and connect with the emotion that lingers beneath the surface.
The monochrome palette enhances the work's timeless quality, while the encaustic process creates a rich, tactile finish that diffuses light and gently obscures the photograph beneath. The result is an ethereal composition where texture and atmosphere become as important as the figure itself.
Created from my original photography, each layer of wax is carefully applied and fused by hand, giving the artwork its unique depth, luminosity, and organic character. No two photo encaustic pieces are ever exactly alike, making each work a truly individual original.
Yearning is a contemplative artwork that brings elegance and quiet emotion to a space. It is a piece that speaks softly, inviting personal reflection and allowing each viewer to discover their own meaning within its layered surface.
