Restrained is an open edition photo encaustic artwork that explores the quiet tension between vulnerability and strength. Created from my original black and white photograph, the image is transformed beneath layers of molten beeswax, where soft textures and luminous veils blur the boundaries between photography and painting.

Rather than revealing every detail, the encaustic process encourages a slower way of seeing. The figure gently emerges through wax and shadow, inviting contemplation and leaving space for personal interpretation. Its monochrome palette and atmospheric surface evoke memory, intimacy, and the beauty found in what remains partially hidden.

Rich textures and subtle imperfections within the wax lend the artwork a timeless, tactile quality, allowing light to interact with the surface and reveal new nuances from different angles. Framed in black, Restrained brings a sense of quiet sophistication to contemporary interiors while celebrating the expressive potential of the photographic image.
